One of the major issues with automated lines handling multiple sizes is that even though the process is fully automatic, after processing all the plates end up mixed on the same rack and must be manually sorted.

The DPF measures plate size and places it on one of 4 racks designated for that plate size. If the plate doesn’t match any of them, it is sent further to the next machine in the line. With multiple DPFs, any number of plate sizes can be handled.

The microprocessor control for the DPF required 6 DC motor outputs  with controllable speed, direction and torque. The supply feedback pulses for measurement of the traveled distance.  Controller was built using three VD203 modules configured as I2C slaves, a main processor and an LCD display.
